Borrow one from us for up to 2 weeks at no cost. It's a great way to experience the fun, ease and convenience of e-bikes for local trips. This is a city of Boroondara initiative designed to encourage active transport and make e-bikes more accessible to the community. We have 2 bikes available and timeslots available between 12 Jan- 30 June 2026.
The e-Bikes
e-Bike 1 Standard
The Benno EJoy vintage-inspired E-bike combines
style and Bosch technology.
Accessories: A child seat, panniers and a front rack/bag. You will be asked to indicate which, if any, you would like on your registration form.


e-Bike 2 Cargo
The Benno Boost EVO5 is a very popular bike for commuting and families – with a powerful Bosch Performance CX motor.

How to Hire an e-Bike
Hire blocks for each bike as follows:
Each e-bike can be reserved for one two-week block.
When booking, you will be able to select the START date for your 2-week block of hire. Please select either the STANDARD e-Bike or CARGO e-Bike to see available dates. Pick up and Return dates for each block are listed below and will also be clearly indicated in your confirmation email.
Pick up's occur on a Monday at midday and returns are 14 days later on a Monday at 11am.
Drop off's and pick ups will be on a Tuesday on Jan 27, Tuesday 10 March & Tuesday April 7 due to public holidays.

Please note:
• that each borrower group may only borrow one e-bike for one two-week period during the period from 12 January until 30 June. There is a limit of one loan per household.
• there is a GPS fitted to the e-bike. For the purposes of this pilot program it will be recording the bike location and distances travelled.
To be eligible to hire a bike you must:*
1) be a resident of Boroondara, aged 18 and over and be able to provide proof of identity and residential address.
2) have a secure location to store the bike when not in use. You will be asked to provide a photo of where you plan to store the bike.
3) Be able to ride a bike and supply your own helmet. You will be asked to demonstrate your ability as part of the check out procedure.
4) Sign the Boroondara e-bike library registration form and waiver and release form
5) Hold a current Bicycle Network Rider insurance and be able to provide evidence of such.
You will need to:
a) purchase the Premium Annual Membership subscription (which includes your insurance). This is the blue tab at Premium Membership | Become a Member | Bicycle Network
b) select monthly payments ($13.58/month)
c) then cancel your membership when your hire period expires. If you fail to cancel your membership it will continue to charge your credit card monthly.
6) Be available to pick up the bike on a Monday at Midday and drop back on a Monday at 11am (or designated Tuesday as indicated)
You will be sent a confirmation email outlining your hire times, full details and all required documentation.
